Inclusive training of units of the Hellenic Navy and the Naval Command of the National Guard

 On Thursday, June 14, 2018, Hellenic Navy units were co-trained with units of the Navy Command of Cyprus and other services of the Republic of Cyprus in the maritime area south of Cyprus. Particularly:

During the morning hours on Thursday, June 14, 2018, a co training event between the “ELLI” Hellenic frigate, with the offshore patrol vessel “GEORGIOU” was carried, which involved the execution of technical objects and the practice on dealing with asymmetric threats and preventing the intrusion of a unit intruder.

During the afternoon hours the “NARARINON” frigate participated in the bilateral Search and Rescue exercise, called "SALAMIS - 02/18". From the Cyprus side, a helicopter from the Police Air Force Unit was part5icipated. The scenario of the exercise concerned a "Maritime Disaster on the Open Seas" on ships and platforms operating in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus. The coordination and the operational control of the aeronautical assets that took part in the exercise were organized by the Larnaka Search and Rescue Coordination Center in cooperation with the Hellenic Navy General Staff.

This inclusion has helped to strengthen the operational capability as well as the readiness of the units as well as to maintain and promote the level of cooperation and mutual understanding between the two Navy Forces and the co-relevant services.
