Visit of the Naval Ships in the Republic of Cyprus
The Naval Ships of the Egyptian Navy, ALI GAD-688 MISSILE BOAT and EL SEDEK-521 MHC OSPRY CLASS, visited the Republic of Cyprus from Monday the 11th until the 12th of November, 2019.
The ships were docked at the Limassol Port, in an effort of strengthening the bilateral cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt, fulfilling an official invitation from the Minister of Defense. The Warships participated and cooperated with the National Guard’s Ship OPV Ioannides, and other Greek and Egyptian Navy Units in the international exercise "MEDUSA-9/19", which took place in Crete from the 1st to the 7th of November 2019.
On Tuesday, the 12th of November, a delegation of Officers from the Egyptian Ships visited the Naval Base "Lieutenant General Evangelos Florakis" in Mari.
The ships were welcomed at the port by the Commander of the Navy Command, Charalambos Charalambous.
While they were sailing, he was briefed regarding their capabilities. During the visit to the NWFP, the Egyptian delegation received briefing on the "Organization and Operational Capabilities" of the Navy Administration and was subsequently guided on patrol ships in the Naval Base Port. Upon completion of the updates, there were exchanges of seafarers and Egyptian Ships.
The ships departed on November 12 and participated in an exercise conducted by the Republic of Cyprus.
