Participation of the Chief of Navy Command at the 12th Regional Seapower Symposium in Venice
From the 15th to the 18th of October, 2019, Chief of Navy Commodore Charalambos Charalambous PN participated in the 12th Regional Seapower Symposium- RSS 2019), which was held in Venice.
The RSS of Venice is organized by the Italian Navy, every two years, in alternation with the "International Seapower Symposium" (ISS), which is organized by the US Navy.
This year's Symposium was attended by Navies from 57 countries around the world and 19 International Organizations, 34 of which were represented by Chiefs who were accompanied by their Staff Officers. Participants included the Heads of Navy of the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Canada, Brazil, Israel, Egypt, Japan and Greece.
The main theme of RSS 2019 was: "Shaping our Navies for the Blue Century". The purpose of this Symposium was to enhance cooperation and exchange views between the participating Chiefs of Navy of the representative countries and the representatives of Multinational Organizations, regarding maritime safety.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Chief of Navy had the opportunity to inform his counterparts on the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region and discuss issues of common interest and ways to expand military cooperation.
The next Regional Maritime Power Symposium will take place in Venice in 2021.
