The NG takes part in "MEDUSA 7 - ALEXANDROUPOLI / 2018" exercise

  The joint aeronautial Exercise of Greece - Cyprus - Egypt under the name "MEDUSA 7 - ALEXANDROUPOLIS / 2018" was completed on Thursday 29 November 2018.

  The purpose of the exercise was to enhance the cooperation and interoperability of the participating countries, as well as to improve the operational training of their staff.

  The exercise was carried out between 23rd and 29th November 2018 in the framework of existing military cooperation between the countries and included phases of activities on ashore, at the Naval Station of Crete and at sea in the sea area off the island.

  The items examined consisted of planning and conducting amphibious operations with naval and air support, counter asymmetric threats operations, execution of surface fire and training support operations in communications and logistics matters, and other various naval and air operations.

  The activities of the exercise's Day of Distinguished Visitors (DVDay) were initially attended by the Egyptian Mistral type "ANWAR EL SADAT" ship and then by the "ELLI" Frigate, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Savvas Angelidis, accompanied by the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Ilias Leontaris and the Chief of Navy Forces, Captain Charalambos Charalambous and executive officers from the  Ministry of Defence.

  The National Guard participated in the exercise with the PS "Commodore A. IOANNIDIS" and Navy UDT.
