Annual Day of Defence Attachés
On the "Annual Day of the Defence Attachés”, which was established by the General Staff of the National Guard on Tuesday October 2nd 2018, a visit by the Defence Attachés accredited to Cyprus was conducted at the Naval Base "LT GEN EVANGELOS FLORAKIS".
The "Day of Defence Attachés" was inaugurated in 2014, having an annual profile, and during this day the Defence Attachés pay visits to National Guard Commands and Formations for informative purposes.
The Defence Attachés were welcomed by the Chief of the Navy Forces, Captain Charalambos CHARALAMPOUS, who thanked them on behalf of Lt General Ilias LEONTARIS for their excellent cooperation, while expressing the conviction for further strengthening of military cooperation.
Thereafter, the Defence Attachés were briefed by staff officers from the International Relations Directorate and the Navy Command about general and historical information about the Republic of Cyprus and the National Guard, as well as on the organization and work of the Navy Command, respectively.
In the above framework, the Defence Attachés had the opportunity to visit the Patrol Ship, "Commodore ANDREAS IOANNIDIS", which is docked at the Naval Base. The program included, among other things, a report on the armaments and special equipment of the Navy, as well as a demonstration of operational capabilities on the subject of naval deterrence, by a team of specialists.
The visit of the Defence Attachés at the Naval Base was completed with a briefing at the Monument to the Fallen of the deadly explosion of July 11, 2011.
